Sep 28, 2017 I have set up Quicken for Mac 2017 on my newer MacBook Pro and have kept 2007 on my old MacBook Air. I prefer the way the old version is set up for entering and paying bills so I am going to use 2007 as my main program for paying bills and tracking charges. Quicken 2019 for Windows imports data from Quicken for Windows 2010 or newer, Microsoft Money 2008 and 2009 (for Deluxe and higher). Quicken 2019 for Mac imports data from Quicken for Windows 2010 or newer, Quicken for Mac 2015 or newer, Quicken for Mac 2007, Quicken Essentials for Mac, Banktivity.
Well, you'll only need one pass because Quicken checks will have the routing/account number information along with your name and address and the bank name already on them, just like the checks you'd get from your bank. All Quicken will let you print is payee, payee address, amount, date, and memo. You may be using MICR ink, but FWIW, I've never heard anyone say definitively that banks and clearing houses universally accept VersaCheck checks printed with regular ink or toner.
Last I saw, VersaCheck and similar vendors had small print on or in their packages warning about using MICR ink. Some people seem to get away with it, but checking with your bank first might be a good idea.
Why are you writing checks anyway? With online bill paying services being nearly ubiquitous, and debit & credit cards, I've gone from writing dozens of checks a month to usually about 1 to 5 paper checks a month between my (small) business AND my personal accounts. Jim - I'm here to learn, so please keep the discussion in the newsgroup.
I delete unsolicitied email without opening it! Why are you writing checks anyway?
Click to expand. This is one I've wondered since this thread started. Online bill paying is free with many banks and CU's. They promote it even. I mean buying checks to write, buying special premium $ Quicken/VersaChecks/whatever, loading in printer, loading in printer twice (?!), swearing because the info printed is wrong or paper crunched. Then add 0.37 a pop to each check. Maybe it's just my short sightedness to business users. Can't use online bill paying or something.
Maybe something more uncommon in that a handicap makes it not physically possible to write checks. When I receive a check I really don't give a rats-can if it's pretty & neat. If it clears, it's perfect. Sortta like at the post office, on the infrequent occasion I have to buy stamps, they ask if the 'Cars Stamps' (whatever the current series is) are OK. I usually reply that I want the kind that will get letters to the adressee.
